AP and Art 2 - semester 1 final
For your final this semester, you will be asked to do 2 things:
Revision artwork
For the artwork, please pick an artwork that you would like to revise. It should have been originally completed within the last year or two. Revise the work to better meet AP qualities but also your vision for what the work should be (that vision can change from your original idea). Consider aesthetics AND concept when making your revision decisions. Your revision should make significant changes to the work (for the better). Your revisions should also reflect your growth as an artist this semester.
The work will be graded on our standard Advanced Art rubric (see below).

In your artist statement I would like you to address all of the following things:

Important Dates
Finals will be due on the day of finals (Friday, December 20). Your third Sustained Investigation (AP Art) and your monument projects (Art 2) will also be due, along with the reflection.
We will hold a critique on the day of finals of your SI pieces (AP Art) and your Monuments (Art 2) as well as your revised project
- Revise an existing artwork to better meet AP/project expectations (and your own!)
- Write an artist statement that explains your artwork and revision process

- Explain your project (What is your idea and how did you make it?)
- Analyze your project (How is your project conveying your idea? What meaning and/or symbolism are you representing?)
- Describe how you revised your project. (What was your process? Why did you make the decisions you did?)
- How does this revision show your growth as an artist (get specific!)
- Describe how this revision shows what you've learned this semester (get specific!)
- Evaluate your project (Where were you successful? Where do you have room for improvement and how would you improve it if you were given the opportunity?
- AP Art: If this is a sustained investigation piece, please also discuss how this revision applies to your SI work and essential question!
Expectations of statement
- Your response should be thoughtful and detailed
- Your response should provide examples and relate to specific aspects of your work to prove your point.
- Your response should discusses and/or demonstrate significant learning from the semester. Consider aesthetic, technical, conceptual and process based learnings. Consider class objectives and other things you learned along the way.
- Reflective on your work and process
- Quality and craftsmanship of final presentation/work
- Remember, this, along with the artwork, is 20% of your grade, and therefore should be in depth and properly represent the amount of work you did this semester.
